Where Faith, Food and Life Converge

Monday Morsels 6.23.14

Sometimes, my sweet almost-15-year-old dog still acts like a puppy and runs to me.  Although shes’s certainly showing her age, this is how I’m always going to remember her – happy and running carefree…

I told my husband the other day that the maintenance on our home is a full-time job, and right now I’m the project manager; I’m not exactly feelin’ carefree lately!  Summertime brings a whole host of maintenance issues from weeding, to caring for the garden,  mowing, painting the parts of the house that were weathered over the winter, to cleaning out closets and more.  Add to that we’ve listed our house, and I’m trying to de-clutter and repaint some things to spruce it up another level.  Since I’m the only one in the house full-time anymore, most of it is up to me.  I don’t necessarily mind, because I’m positively weird in that I like to be busy (thus I get to cross things off my lists!) but it just seems to be an endless parade lately of “to-do’s.”

I’m an only child so one would think I would relish the quiet, but in some ways I find it discomfiting.  I never saw that coming!  Still, it is nice to be able to read an article online – or several – and not have to get up to find something for someone even though it’s staring them right in the face.  In fact, here are some of the things I’ve seen around the world wide web as of late…

And finally, my beloved note/recipe/book/movie/meal plan curator, Springpad shuts down this Wednesday.  I’ve had quite a time trying to export over 5000 items to another (or 4 or 5!) website/app companies.  Since a couple have been super helpful (and most like Springpad) I thought I’d give them a shout-out:  memit and spundge  They make it easy to save anything you see online that you might one day want to revisit later.  I used Springpad for about 5 years, and it changed the way I live, honestly.  Check them out and see if you can use them too!
