Where Faith, Food and Life Converge

Monday Mondays 7.6.15

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!  We’ve gone to the same place to see fireworks for the past 10 years or so, and we thought we’d have to cancel this year because we’ve had nothing but RAIN for the last 7 days.  But for a few short (and chilly) hours, the skies were clear, the breeze was bountiful, and once again we celebrated the birth of our great nation.

As you may know, one of my sons is serving in the Air Force overseas, and my son was even able to spend the holiday with family…. in Paris!  His aunt and cousin were there for a few days and he drove from his base to meet them for the weekend.  They even took pictures to prove it and I just can’t get enough of them 😉   Because he’s so far away, I’m part of a mom’s group on Facebook for parents of Air Force servicemen & women.  We lift each and encourage one another, and share our fears and joys, and information when we can. As you can imagine, on the 4th, we were all posting our pride for our country and family members on the Facebook group.   One mom re-posted her son’s Independence Day greetings to his friends and family yesterday, and I got permission from her to share them with you.  It just makes my heart so glad to know that there are young people all across the world who love our country and are willing, like our founding fathers, to defend the this nation at all costs.

Have a great week, and know that there are men and women from all walks of life, and from every corner of the country, that go about the business each day watching over this wonderful United States of America!  Here’s what he wrote:

It’s college football season!  My favorite season of the year.  Well, if we’re talking real seasons, that would be Spring, but otherwise, I could watch college football all day every day.  I’m not an LSU fan, or a Boise State fan, but I pay attention […]
